This ring was a research project based on climate change's increasing number of cracks in the arctic circle. By showing these divisions, I hope to create a narrative with the eroded lower copper band representing the destruction humanity is causing as we continuously destroy the planet, represented by the silver upper band.
The cracks shown are direct copies of ones that have appeared in the Beaufort sea ice as of 2016.
The brass bridge placed connecting cracks of the ice represents the hope I still have with the youth of today. More specifically, it is a dedication to Greta Thurber (Time's Person of the Year) and the attention she is bringing to climate change. She has shown that the youth has the power to change the horrible future we are headed to if we continue on this path of destruction.
